Let's start at the beginning:*all times in GMT and are approximate* Thursday, 18:06 I boarded a train to go to Paddington, Thursday, 23:30 I alighted the train, and went in search of fish and chips - only managed to find a kebab shop open (other than the big fast food joints) so bought 4 fish and chips there. *I froze* (I also read) [hands turning white is a bad thing, right?] Friday 05:00 I boarded the train to Heathrow, from Paddington Friday 05:15 alighted at Heathrow *I read* Friday 09:30 US Airways finally opened and reported(very quietly) that the plane I was due to board at 13:00 was delayed by either 6 or 8 hours, meaning I'd miss my connection in Philadelphia. *I waited in line* (With a nice lass named Ally) Friday 10:00 I got put on an earlier flight...from Gatwick, with a voucher for free travel on the "every 15 minutes" bus between the airports. *I missed the 10:10 bus* (Ally, who was before me in line also missed that bus) Friday 10:15 I checked the time of the next bus 11:05 ! 15 minutes seems to be a long time in London. Friday 10:20 Rather than wait around, doing nothing, while our checking in window grew narrower and narrower Ally and I decided to get a cab [not something I'd advise to the poor] and on the way to Gatwick we talked about many things, and then split the cost, £130 [I gave her $130 since she was paying by card] *We passed the bus we'd missed* (meaning that if we'd have waited we WOULD have missed the flight since the taxi took just over an hour) Friday 11:30 we checked in for the 12:30 flight and went through security[I got frisked,I forgot to take my watch off], then pretty much hung out until the flight, where we were 3 rows apart. Friday 21:00 [16:00 Eastern] we landed in Philly, went through security[I got frisked, and bag searched (strange how they didn't say anything about the 2 cartons of Fish and Chips in the bag when you're prohibited from bringing food into countries)] and immigration and all that, then we parted ways so she could get her connection, and I could wait for mine. *I ate a Philly cheese steak sandwich* Saturday 01:00 [20:00 Eastern] I got frisked, yes, 3 friskings for 3 planes, then boarded the flight to MCI Saturday 04:00 [22:00 Central] I landed in Kansas and waited for my bags with Tiffany, who, with Karen and Sean, was waiting for me. Saturday 06:00 [00:00 Central] we arrived 'home' Saturday 18:00 [12:00 Central] woke up so that we could go shopping and eat before returning the van to Dee, we went to a bookshop, where I bought the newest in a series that I have been collecting and to Wal*mart where I bought Xbox live stuff (4000 points and 12 months Gold membership, only $99.98 compared to $70 for just the 12 month membership in the UK[only the Points card said US accounts only]) We then went to Country Kitchen where we had a nice meal with an un-nice server and then went to Dee's to pass on the van. When we got to Dee's we then went to the local park to try to tire the kids out. Sunday 18:00 [12:00 Central] woke up so that I could get ready for the day, we'd been invited over to Dee's. Got to Dee's and went to Wendy's then to a bigger park than the one close to her. Sugar, one of her dogs, and the only one she brought with her to the park (not to Wendy's, we went back and got her, as well as changing shoes for Katherine) glorious sunshine, and Sugar broke her choke chain and was running amok, over the park, and roads as all of us, save Sean and I at first, then Karen and Sean she couldn't go on, tried, in vain to catch her. The chase started at the, lets say, top end of the park, where she ran up a steep slope and across road 1, she then got chased back into the park, but went uncaptured and then managed to run across the interstate on the left hand side (if top = N, left = W) and went behind some buildings there - at this point I had joined the chase - I then chased her back across the interstate and along the bottom of the park, and even further right while also trying to keep her from running in front of the cars. I managed to get further right of her, and slowly herded her back towards the right side of the park. A fellow park user, who was getting into his car, managed to catch hold of the scruff of her neck, and the chase was over, but our forces were scattered, and one(Tiffany) was missing her shoes. Sunday 23:00 [17:00 Central] started packing my bags for the flight back. All my books, and, as far as I'm aware, all my summer clothes - I have still got my winter furry coat there, but it weighs a tonne and in that weather, with 150lbs of luggage I wasn't going to be wearing it. Monday 13:45 [06:45 Central] woke late, as did everyone else, meaning Tiffany had missed her bus to school, Karen managed to get her onto to Sean's bus and to walk the difference. Monday 15:45 [09:45 Central] got picked up by Dee, who wasn't feeling good, who got dropped at her place [if we'd known we'd have just let Tiff skip class and keep Karen company on the drive back] before Karen resumed the driver's position and off we went. Monday 18:00 [12:00 Central] arrived at Pizza Street, a wonderful pizza buffet place (in April 06, 7 of us ate for $37) where I had: baked potato, BBQ, alfredo, ham, spicy chicken, and a few other slices(several slices of the baked potato one[well shredded potato, chives and bacon on alfredo(white sauce, not red sauce)] and then had a cinnamon roll, and a piece of chocolate dessert pizza (leaving a cinnamon dessert pizza slice uneaten due to fullness) Monday 19:00 [13:00 Central] arrived at airport and said bye to Karen, then sat about waiting for the plane for a while, before remembering I'd need to get ticketed first. Both bags were over 70lb meaning I was going to be charged $200 for excess baggage, I merely over loaded the heaviest bag to over 80lbs leaving the "lighter" one at 65lbs giving me a charge of $150-which I had to get from the cashpoint as they couldn't make my Maestro card work for EFTPOS. Uneventful trip back, pausing in Philly for another cheese steak sandwich (best $9.09 ever spent, I did have a drink with it) and to pick up tobacco to help reduce the debt I built up in October last year, now down to £30 out of the £100 lent to help while Karen, the kids, and I were in London. Caught an earlier train to Paddington than my itinerary showed, but no one bothered to argue(the ticket had no time on it) and had a raspberry smoothie(with banana and orange juice) before waiting for my delayed train (only by like 10-15 minutes) and trying to get my bags, thank God for wheels, onto the train.
Since I got back, I have been dipping my toes into learning Japanese, with "The Rosetta Stone" software, trying to get into the rhythm/routine of doing an hour a day, minimum.
Well, hope you guys are having fun Love and hugs Steue -x-

I don't even know how to post about this weekend. I'm not coherent enough, yet, to write a recap, although I might try again tomorrow, after I've slept and read my flist. (In the meantime, lordessrenegade has an awesome recap of flailing here, and jjtaylor has a recap here that articulates just about exactly how I feel about the show.) I still don't entirely believe that Friday was real, though, even after spending over twelve hours at Madison Square Garden, and meeting lots of awesome people, and sharing my poncho with the masses, and seeing a concert that went so far beyond amazing that I'm not sure there are words.
I called my mom this morning from LaGuardia, to wish her Happy Mother's Day, and I ended up telling her all about how unbelievably epic Friday was, and how I felt like I'd been part of an historic moment - My Chem playing their first MSG show, before going on hiatus, after dreaming of playing MSG since long before they were a band - and how incredible it was to be part of making one of their major dreams come true, how it was a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience. My mom is pretty awesome, because instead of laughing at me or just not getting it, she said, "Yeah, I wasn't there when the Beatles played Madison Square Garden, and I didn't get to go to Woodstock because my mom wouldn't let me even though I had a ticket, but I remember waiting in line for hours to go to concerts, and I remember the concerts themselves, and it is epic and amazing, and I'm so glad you did this, even if it was kind of crazy."
There's still a part of me that wishes I could have been crazier - gone for the whole week-long East Coast Bandom Roadtrip, or even just to Connecticut for Panic - but if I could only do one, I'm glad I did this one. I'm broke, and I'm exhausted, and every part of my body hurts, and I don't know how I'm going to go back to normal life and day-to-day reality, after this, how we're going to cope without My Chem on tour for the next couple of years. But flying to New York for that show was absolutely, 100% worth it, and Gerard said it: keep on living. Keep on creating and giving back to this fandom, too, because there is nothing about it that isn't extraordinary.

I'm extremely proud that the other day we ate a dinner that was mostly from the garden. It consisted of turnips and chard from our garden with a bit of parsley (and some store-bought onion and tomato although those will be from our garden soon enough!) with a side of turnip greens. Delicious! Since then, I haven't made anything that hasn't had some thing from our garden even if it was just some herbs. Our tiny little garden keeps getting bigger and more beautiful every day! I'm so proud and excited!

| Subject: | How to Find a Four Leaf Clover |
| Security: | Public |
In time for the warmer weather we're getting, here's some advice on how to find a four-leaf clover. According to folklore, carrying a four-leaf clover is the simplest method of getting the Sight. I have never been able to find a one, but for those who are luckier than I am, now is the time to strike.
Relatedly, some suggestions for how to preserve one once you find it.
