At the conclusion of the film, my mother and I were talking.
"See," I said, "it's exactly like Spock said in the film: because events from the future have changed the past, the crew is now part of a kind of alternate reality thing, which means they can totally take Star Trek in any direction they want and still have it be part of the 'canon.' I've heard rumors that there'll be a second film, in fact!"
My mother: "So...does that make Spock his own father?"
Me: "....nooooo." ::tries to get that image out of her head:: "That's a Star Wars thing."
